What keeps people from believing the Gospel of the Grace of God? (tract)
What keeps people from believing the Gospel of the Grace of God?
Ignorance of scripture
Incorrect understanding of sin; Jesus came to save people from sin and hell. He didn’t come to give us an easy life or a hard life. He expects people to repent of sin and change.
Pride: they don’t realize or want to admit they are sinners in need of God’s grace.
They believe their efforts are necessary & worthy of God’s approval.
Failure to recognize Jesus Christ is God, thus failing to recognize the infinite, eternal power of His sacrifice
Believing that one can make up for breaking God’s Laws by inventing and keeping man made rules instead
Believing Satanic and demonic lies
Believing false teachers and false doctrines
Incorrect understanding of the gospel
Who Opposes the Grace of God?
Those lost in darkness and blinded by the god of this evil world.
What do they say?
· You must “work” for your salvation
· Grace is only temporary help in a moment of need
· It takes more than trusting in Jesus to be saved
· You must follow them in order to obey God
· You must qualify for their approval
· You must get “the Spirit” from them
· You must be a part of their select group
· The Cross and Blood of Jesus aren’t enough to save anyone
· People must do more and follow the example of Jesus to be saved
· Jesus was just a man, not God
· The Holy Spirit is not God
· Jesus is not to be worshipped
· Believing the Word of God is not enough to save anyone – people need their advice, mediation and counsel as well
· God’s Word doesn’t really mean what it says; it is just speaking of “spiritual” things, not natural things
· The cross was just a side benefit, only for those who follow them and obey their rules
The Narrow Way is Jesus; not a secret society
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness: but unto us which are saved it is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:23,24
What Does God say to Those Who Oppose His Gospel of Grace?
“Woe to you blind guides… Matthew 23:16 Blind guides blindly reject God’s Word and free gift of Grace, yet they boldly tell others what to do to earn God’s gift.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like white washed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”Matthew 23:27-28 They hide their immorality, slothfulness, pride and idolatry.
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in. I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ They will answer, ‘Lord when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison and did not help you?’ He will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the leastof these, you did not do for me.” Matthew 25:41-45 They are selfish and neglect to help the poor and needy. They mock people who care for the needy.
“You foolish, Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you hear? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?” Galatians 3:1-3 They have no faith in Christ’s sacrifice and try to merit God’s approval with their own rules.
“….These men are godless,…. giving themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. Woe to them. They have taken the way of Cain…These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm – shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, treeswithout fruit, wild waves of the sea foaming shame, wandering stars for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever. These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their advantage.” Jude 4-16 They are proud, self-centered, critical of others, indifferent to the misery and needs of others, they eat at everyone’s tables without contributing anything.
The Grace of God will set you free from the
Bondage of Sin
Guilt of Sin,
Power of Sin,
Punishment of Sin,
Eternal Death of Sin and
False Religious Bondage
When you place your faith and trust only in the atoning work of Jesus Christ. Faith produces repentance, obedience and joy.
What is Faith?
Faith is trust in God’s Word; unqualified dependence on the completed work of Jesus Christ to secure God’s mercy towards believers. Faith is the exact opposite of depending on self or anyone else.
How long does the Free Gift of God’s Grace last?
Your past, present and future sins will be forgiven and put away forever. Nothing and no one can separate you from the love of God.
“This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference --- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.”
Romans 3:22-25 NIV
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV
What are these good works?
Good works are not
- To earn salvation
- Sacrifice of home, family and income
- Preaching religion or rules
- About clothing and hair styles
- A way of life, or a fellowship
- A place or method of having meetings
- Circumcision or old laws
- New laws
- Bait to attract or persuade people
- A pleasant attitude
- Being a good example
Good works are Faith at work
- Activities inspired by Jesus’ kindness
- Taking care of widows and orphans
- Helping the sick, comforting the dying
- Sharing the gospel of Grace with sinners
- Translating scriptures, giving away Bibles
- Helping neighbors, praying for people
- Sharing food, water and clothing with the real poor, visiting those in real prisons
- Speaking out to protect people or babies from real death, slavery or abortion
- Giving money and time to the Lord’s Work
- Ministering to the needs of the church
- To glorify God
- Obedience to God’s Word
Works are good deeds, done in God’s Name to show His love for mankind; to bring Him glory. They will be rewarded in eternity. They are not done to obtain salvation.
What does scripture say about the Grace of God?
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, Whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ, our Savior, So that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the Hope of eternal life.”
Grace is the unmerited favor, unearned gift, undeserved kindness of God; His amazing forgiveness of sin and the power to live with dignity in the present with hope for the eternal future to live with God in a new heaven and on a new earth.
Don’t insult Jesus
By trying to pay for your sins yourself
By trying to pay for other people’s sins with your sacrifice
By trying to take His gift without repenting
